Certificate in Photo geology and Remote Sensing

Certificate in Photo geology and Remote Sensing

This course provides an introduction to Photogeology and Remote Sensing techniques including Geographical information system. This course will introduce students to concepts and geological applications in remote sensing with an emphasis on aerial photography. The course is divided into three parts, dealing with photogeology, remote sensing and GIS respectively. The first few lectures will be devoted to building fundamentals of photogeology and remote sensing. This will include a focus on the interaction of Electromagnetic Radiations (EMR) with atmosphere and Earth’s surface.

The course emphasizes the practical geological applications of Photogeology and Remote Sensing for the interpretation of geomorphological or geological features. The course will concentrate on the practical uses of integrated datasets and how to apply these tools for different analysis.

Certificate in Structural Geology

Certificate in Structural Geology

The primary objective is to explain structural geology concepts and tools that aid in developing an internally consistent 3-D picture of the crustal structure, and evaluating specific reservoir characteristics such as top seal integrity and fault seal. Together, the instructors and students will develop a structural analysis “best practices” workflow.

The course is structured according to tectonic setting (e.g. passive margins, transform margins, fold-thrust belts, and continental rift systems). Within each tectonic setting, we cover regional geology, fault system geometry, kinematics, trap evolution, and the tools a practicing geologist would use to constrain a 3-D picture of the crustal structure.

Certificate in Well Stimulation and Sand Control

Certificate in Well Stimulation and Sand Control

Too often in today’s dynamic oil and gas industry, not enough attention is paid to the details of well stimulation treatments. This can result in poor and/or less than optimum results. Those involved in the planning, execution, and evaluation of stimulation treatments need to have the back ground and training in the basics so better decision can be made resulting in more gas down the line or oil in the tank. This course is designed for those involved in all aspects of well stimulation. To be better able to make decisions it is important to have a basic understanding of the types of formations and basic reservoir properties with which we deal. For this reason, time is spent in the early portion of the course setting the geological and reservoir property stage for vertical, horizontal and multilateral wells prior to developing the basic formation damage, acidifying and hydraulic fracturing concepts.

Certificate in Petroleum Geochemistry

Certificate in Petroleum Geochemistry

This course will introduce students to the basic principles used in the study of Petroleum Geochemistry and Geo chemical Methods. This will include a focus on the processes that influence the Geochemical Analysis their Importance in Hydrocarbon Characterization, as well as focusing on the Types of organic matter and their geochemical prospective. Special emphasis will also be placed on the organic and inorganic methods that are used to make hydrocarbon characteristics their interpretation and importance of major sedimentary basins of world.

Certificate in Basin Analysis

Certificate in Basin Analysis

This course will introduce students to the basic principles used in the study of Basin Analysis and Petroleum System. This will include a focus on the processes that influence the formation of sedimentary basins and their Importance in Hydrocarbon Exploration, as well as focusing on the Types of Basins related to Plate Margin. Special emphasis will also be placed on the Sedimentary basin mapping that is used to make tectonic and sedimentary interpretations and importance of major sedimentary basin.

The course emphasizes the practical geological applications of basin analysis studies to petroleum exploration. This course takes the trainee up to just below the level of full play fairway and petroleum systems analysis. The course will concentrate on the practical uses of integrated data-sets and how to apply these tools for basin analysis.

Certificate in Reservoir Geology

Certificate in Reservoir Geology

This course is designed to develop skills in understanding the geometry and petrophysical characteristics of clastic and carbonate reservoirs. Depositional fabric, grain type and size and subsequent diagenetic modifications are the major controls on carbonate reservoir behaviour. The complex inter-relationship of the depositional and burial history can be unravelled to allow prediction of reservoir facies and reconstruction of three-dimensional reservoir models. Sequence stratigraphy is a powerful framework for modelling and predicting the distribution of carbonate and evaporite reservoirs and seals.

The course demonstrates the value of the reservoir model in volumetric assessment and development of carbonate reservoirs. Extensive practical sessions can utilise the client’s own data or Robertson’s non-exclusive data. This course aims to develop a fundamental knowledge of the basic geological and petrophysical concepts and apply this knowledge to understand reservoir geology.

Certificate in Petroleum Geology

Certificate in Petroleum Geology

This course will introduce students to the basic principles used in the study of Petroleum Geology and Petroleum generation. This will include a focus on the processes that influence the formation of Petroleum and their Importance in Hydrocarbon accumulation, as well as focusing on the Types of organic matter deposition and maturation. Special emphasis will also be placed on the reserve estimation mapping that is used to make hydrocarbon characteristics their interpretation and importance of major sedimentary basins of world.

Certificate in Petroleum Drilling and Production Engineering

Certificate in Petroleum Drilling and Production Engineering

This course is aimed at petroleum, production and operation engineers who wish to gain an insight in to the Field Development Process and the role of Production Engineering and Drilling. It will explain the Petroleum Engineering context within which Production Engineering and Drilling Operations take place. The emphasis on down hole technology will be complemented by a facilities, operations and environmental review.
