More the 30% of neonatal deaths happen globally. Nearly half of fewer than 5 deaths occur in neonatal period and most of these deaths occur within first few days of birth. Birth asphyxia and sepsis are the major causes of these deaths. One of the effective measures to prevent deaths is to have skilled birth attendants trained in resuscitation, prevention of infection and temperature management. Initiation of breastfeeding within one hour of life itself is estimated to save a number of new born lives. This course gives an idea about neonatal resuscitation and post resuscitation care.

Epidemiology is the science that deals with the patterns, causes and effects of health and disease conditions in defined communities or populations. This program aims to enable the students in epidemiological, biostatistical and methodological skills to an upgraded level.

This course provides students an overview of some of the key functional and management areas of hospital industry. The course will enable students to acquire knowledge, and managerial skills to impart their duties in hospital industry effectively and efficiently. This course will address the major non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Non Communicable diseases (NCDs), also known as chronic diseases. NCDs are caused to a large extent by four modifiable behavioral risk factors: tobacco use, unhealthy diet, insufficient physical activity and harmful use of alcohol. NCDs disproportionately affect the poor, impoverish families, and place a growing burden on health-care systems. Cost-effective interventions are available to prevent and control Non Communicable diseases and their risk factors throughout the life course. Coordinated actions are across all sectors of society required to combat NCDs, including partnerships among governments, civil society, academia, international organizations and the private sector.

The course is designed for students in the Master of public health program. The course gives an overview of the history of global occupational health movement. Attention is focused on selected occupational health issues emerging from various industries and occupations. Similarly, occupational health hazards affecting various target organs and systems are highlighted. The course further addresses specific areas of concern related to health hazards from new and emerging environmental pollutants. A study of various intervention approaches through early detection of impairments in occupational exposure, health promotion, measurement and monitoring of workplace environment, and keeping health records. Various legislations concerning safety measures for the workers and the workplace environments are reviewed. The course would include contextual projects providing students the opportunity of demonstrate their understanding by translating theory into occupational health safety practices reflecting various industrial settings

The course gives an overview about Population Health. The course further addresses specific areas Measures, indicators of Population Health. A study of Various Measurement and approaches of health status in population surveys and Valuation methods. The course would include Issues and Challenges of population health.

This module attempts to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and basic economic arguments that are central to health system financing.

It provides a brief introduction to the conceptual underpinnings of health economics, with the emphasis on practical application to health financing and understanding of how health care resources are generated, pooled and used to. It looks at the main models of health system funding including health insurance and their implications for the structure, planning and delivery of services.

Public Health Management is a branch of the public health that deals with health threats and its management. It ponders a great chance to get awareness about the health related threats that are prevailing in the community.
